Golden Tower Project

The Golden Tower Project was commissioned by Burning Man and created in collaboration with Jeff Miller and a global community of individuals who donated their pee.

Inspired by the oddly beautiful sight of sunlight shining through drug-testing samples viewed through a Hostess factory window, the Golden Tower Project ultimately speaks to the power of art as alchemy.

Unlike the Hostess workers whose eliminations were dissected by an authority for unauthorized activities, and unlike society who claims what is waste and what has value, the artists from around the world who mailed me jars of urine, the participants of Burning Man who so willingly “popped a squat”, the desert, the sun, the moon (with a bit of help from ELwire) reclaimed the excreta and made it stunning jewel-like monument.
