Signal transduction is the means plants use to exchange information about their environment so they can make any necessary changes or adaptations. This piece, influenced by an eruption of desert flowers I walked through in California, is an imagined amplification of that communication. With its heavily layered and processed whispering four-channel audio track repeating, “It’s in the air. It’s in the water,” it endeavors to make visible that which is imperceptible.
