SKYPE SKLPT STUDIO explores communication as collaboration and the “thing-ness” of speech. Over the course of the three-month exhibition, I worked collaboratively with artists worldwide over SKYPE video calls. Beforehand we each collected a variety of materials. During each call, I guided my collaborator in making a work with the materials they had chosen, and they did likewise with me and my supplies. Additionally, visitors to the gallery were invited to drop off materials that could become possible interjections in our “conversations.”
The performances were projected live in the gallery, and the resulting works were added to the exhibition as they were created.
