Upper Kingdom

I created these sculptures and the resulting images while at the Djerassi Resident Art Program in Woodside, CA, where I spent time hiking in the Santa Cruz Mountains and collecting rocks.

Back in my studio, I embellished the rocks with paint, chains, reflective materials, and small wooden plinths, fashioning them into impressionistic sculptures of the areas I hiked through, while also using them to describe discreet relationships I have with friends, family, and colleagues.

I then shot images of the sculptures using a photo stacking process that renders each part of the object in perfect focus.
