Upper Kingdom

I made these sculptures and resulting images while at Djerassi Resident Art Program in Woodside, CA, where I spent time hiking in the Santa Cruz Mountains picking up rocks.

Back in my studio, I embellished the rocks with paint, chains, reflective materials, and small wooden plinths, fashioning them into impressionistic sculptures of the areas I hiked through while at the same time using them to describe discreet relationships I have with friends, family, and colleagues.

I then shot images of the sculptures using a photo stacking process that renders each part of the object in perfect focus.
